Prior to last weekend, I knew one [important] thing about Milk Bar in Prospect Heights: Great Coffee. It was time to have a meal there.
Of course the meal began with a round of the aforementioned great coffee, which arrived flaunting some lovely latte art. I took a few pictures before swirling the designs away with my spoon.
While my table mates opted for brioche toast and meat pies, I ordered the Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich. It was perfectly portioned and served on thick slabs of multi-grain bread. Judging from both the name of the sandwich and the pretty yellow hue of the chicken salad, I expected the curry flavor to really shine. Surprisingly, it didn’t. What I did get was the strong smoky flavor of the chicken. So, it wasn’t exactly what I expected, but it was yummy! I may even have it again sometime, but I’ll think of it as the “Smoky Chicken Salad Sandwich” to manage my expectations.
Now, I know two things about Milk Bar: Great Coffee, Good Food.
