I finally ate at Greenpoint’s beloved Five Leaves this summer. It’s better late than never, right?
My friend, a Five Leaves veteran, suggested we get there early and try to sit outside. A solid plan as the place really began to fill up once we were seated. And outside we had plenty of space and nice lighting for iPhone food photography. Here’s what went down:
A Nevaro Spritz for me. The familiar bitterness of a negroni, but with bubbles! And oh so photogenic.

A shared appetizer of Squid – a special that day. A surprisingly colorful and delicious dish. Tender. Though for the life of me I cannot remember the sauces.
And of course, the Beetroot and Ricotta Ravioli with sage-brown butter sauce. We ate the rainbow.
And not to be overlooked, a side of Roasted Baby Squash with Dandelion Pesto.

I really enjoyed my taste of Five Leaves and wouldn’t mind a return trip to experience more of the menu – maybe brunch or some oysters.
Yummy Brooklyn friends, have you been?
